Where does the time go...............

Been super busy- BTW thank you to all the fabulous visits and generous orders at my etsy shop. My emails are overflowing with kindness and concern about my poor little blog. Life has grabbed ahold of me and I have just not honestly had the time or the right words to put to hand. I have had a MAJOR life altering experience since I last checked in that has brought great saddness and grieve to my life, and I just can't bring myself to go there at this time and am going to be alittle doormant from my blog until I can get to a place that is blog worthy again. Perhaps the New Year will bring bright new beginings and help bring closure to those that were opened this past.

Spooky Time

With the kiddos in school I have been able to get my creative juices a flowin'! I have been very inspired by the upcoming fall season. I love getting ready for Halloween. Next to Christmas decorating, it is my fav. With the focus now being school, fall carnivals and not Pool Parties, Fall is on the horizon and it will be so nice to have it here after all the "close to 100" temp days we've been suffering through =(
I have added a few little SpOoKy gOoDiEs to my Etsy Shop this week. Hope to share more soon!

Well, the boys are at school. The house is empty, quite, and a little less messier!

I took a few "First Day" shots of them. I thought I might cry going into it with my 4yr. old. Since I had with my oldest. Bald like a baby! Of course, I was 8 months pregnant at the time, so that could explain the extra burst of emotion!
I actually kept it together, I went through the motions of walking him to his new class, helping him pick out a cubbie for his oversized booksack, and giving him a big hug to wish him well.

Then he did it. The one thing I had known he'd do and I would dread.

He hugged me back and then tooked a step back from me, and said "Okay- bye momma. Go! You should leave now!"

So I did, and that was that- My precious little baby was gone and there in front of
me stood what he was now- a Big Boy!

OMGosh!~ I can't believe this coming week my boys are going back to school! FRIDAY! Our youngest is starting Kindergarten this year =( I really have mixed emotions about this. He is still only 4 . But in our part of the country Sept. 30th is the cut off and his B-day is Sept. 25th. Gosh that's cutting it close!! He is really quite bright, I think he will adjust fine- We just were really given no choice. If we hold him this fall from attending they can put him directly into 1st grade when we go to sign him up next fall. That really stinks!! So we have been spending alot of time this summer getting ready!! Summer has just gotten away from us, as I am sure it has everyone else. We still have a few fun things planned for them this week before the big return day- but to be honest, they really act like they are ready- especially our 11 yr. old. I don't know if it's just boredom, the new DC booksack, the cool new supplies or those shiney new shoes his feet are waiting to get into!! Prob. the latter!!

Anyways, in celebration of getting Back to School, I am having alittle SALE in my Etsy Shop. A few little School Albums to be going in this week,

I had a wonderful B-day. Over the weekend there was lots of decorations that my kiddos made, good eats like Italian Cream Cake, and some pretties for the b-day girl! Today was a relaxer. Just sitting by the pool, catching up on my soaps, doing a little crafting and getting some play time in with my boys before they are off to school again.

Here are a few pics from around the house. The kid's start their Spring Break today. 11 days off- yippy~
That's my little guy there on the couch- he wasn't feeling all so good, so he made it in the pic!

Our dinner was fabulous the other night! There was a LIVE CAJUN BAND playing that night- the kids had so much fun dancing! The crawfish were YUMMY!

My hubby is off today as well, so he will be finishing up on his HONEY DO LIST that has to be completed before his MOTHER-IN-LAW arrives! he he he!

Easter Party

Getting ready for a little Easter Party and Egg Hunt at my 4yr. old's school in the morning. I found these darling little felt bags and the little chicks are cut from yellow felt and have alittle yellow feather and a tiny black bead eye! TOO CUTE! I filled them with goodies for the kids- I don't over kill on candy-which I am sure the other moms appreciate- but a few jelly beans did find their way into the fillable eggs -he he~ Other items included are bubbles in an egg shaped holder, easter pencils, stickers, erasers, colors,some dum dums and some sweet tarts!

I had to include this pic- You may have read in a Valentine's post that my little one had started to write his name. Well, he has gotten so good at it that he writes it all the time. I had tried to get him to sign all his valentine cards- NO WAY would he do it- Well he asked today to sign these little tags I included on the bags- ALL 15 of them! HA! Gotta love his enthusiasm!
I have so much fun doing these little parties- since I know the time will soon come when there will be no more- My 10 yr. old has out grown such things- though he did sneak in my studio this afternoon asking if I had made anything for him to give to his teachers!
AHHH~ what a compliment! I let him pick from some goodies I had put on Etsy and some other little favs- So sweet that he would be so proud of his momma! To not be embarrassed to give away her goods! Made my day I have to say!

Well I still have chores to do before I can lay my head to rest! We are going out for a big family dinner tomorrow night! Crawfish! Yummy! My Dad, brother and his new wife, my baby sister and her significant other, and my clan! We will be getting together for Easter, but my brother and his new bride are doing the "Every-other Holiday is at this or that family" thing now that they are married, so they won't be here for Easter Sunday when we will be with the entire family. We always have a great time. I usually come home hurting from laughing so hard! I am looking forward to being with them.

A new day

These last couple of weeks have just run together. We have been super busy around here! We are in the middle of LEAP Testing Week! Standardized testing for all 4th & 8th graders in Louisiana. We had this in Tx- the TAAS test it is called. One must pass with basic knowledge or above to move on to the next grade. My son is not so great with testing of this style. He is Dyslexic, so his ability to take standardized tests is very difficult and frustrating for him. We have just one more day after today and then we wait- until MAY - for the results- PURE AGONY!!
ALSO, my mother is coming for a visit. eek! We spent this past weekend in the yard, sprucing up beds, yard, and throwing out old toys the boys have too many of. We keep this huge "Ball Bin" in the garage- to me everything should fit in there and when it doesn't, well it should be thrown out. I mean how many footballs, soccer, baseballs can one have or better yet NEED??? Well, ALOT- so I've been told! Now that some of the outside has been attended to, my focus is the INSIDE.

My mother will be staying with us for about 8 days, so I can't stash things in places like closets or the laundry room. Oh and BTW- I have a brother who is married and a sister that live near by and I can bet they will be getting away with lots of stashing!! I am really a pretty good house keeper, but I do have a habit of rushing and not getting things back to their PROPER PLACE! Actually my mother is not really a WHITE GLOVE type- and the house will have that neat- yet- LIVED IN LOOK-I mean I have BOYS that live here! I just like to give it some extra attention since she only comes in a few times a year-

And with SPRING'S newness in the air I've been a bit inspired to try some re-arranging and changing out little vignettes around the house while I'm at it! PLUS, her house is FABULOUS- I mean MAGAZINE FABULOUS! I will post some pics of the inside at another time, for now here are some freshly opened blooms from different spots around the yard!

Trash to Treasure

I hit a local Flea Market over the weekend. I wouldn't call it a bomb, but my finds were kinda whimpy. The Flea Markets here are not all that good. I long for the months ahead when I will be traveling home to Texas. They have the best little markets around there. The entire road trip you find little towns with loads of treasures to stop at along the way. And the prices are extreamly fair! Here are a few pics of the finds I did come away with. I noticed many of you did the same this weekend- the weather must be improving all over.

I did find a good selection of vintage seam binding. The colors were all in yummy spring shades of pale yellows, pinks and gorgeous greens. An armful of Vintage Sheet Music came home with me, some baskets, glass jars for goods,Vintage tinsel garland- cause Christmas is only 10 months away!(he he he!),and other little misc pretties!

This little basket came full of vintage trims and lace doilies! It was found at little garage sale on the drive home!

I believe the weather is FINALLY going to co-operate and let SPRING in! This time of year is soooo inspiring. With new-ness all in bloom, the warmer temps, and all the gorgeous colors that are in sight. One cannot help but be inspired by all that is SPRING! It's a good thing! Which leads me to the Queen of all GOOD! Did anyone catch MARTHA this morning? I've recorded it since I was out at the Flea Market all morning and I'm watching it now! Great to see so many artist featured.

I made some like these years ago for my little grandmother when I was younger. Brought back so many sweet dear memories while I was putting these together! Spring has SpRuNg!

Flea Market Treasures

I have long been a collector of, well, stuff! Junk to some, pretties to others. Little trinkets, old china, chippy shelves and bits. Anything well worn and loved. In getting into the Spring mode, we have been clearing out closets, and drawers, boxes that have been stashed away and forgotten, and clearing out room for a less is more feel. Well, that's what my hubby thinks-

I do have lots of things that I do need to move on, and that's where you're in luck! I will continue my junkin' expeditions, but at times one needs to let go of some things that would be more suited and loved in another ones home! I love the idea of a Flea Market online. I have run across several of these over the years. Many have certain days of the week they put their precious finds up for all those to see. I like that idea, but it's not always likely that every week I would want to part with my junk- I mean Pretties! he he~

So, I will however, here and there, be posting some finds to share. If you are interested in anything you see let me know. I occasionaly list items at my Ebay shop. I will have pics here first - the morning of, and then that night the items will be listed for auction, giving my blog friends a first look! Here are just a few of the things I will be putting up later tonight!

Here are some pics of some goodies going to my 4 year old's preschool for a Valentine's Party. My 4th grader no longer has school parties- No exchange of little valentine -fold over cards, or little hand written notes to a friend. I know we still did that when I was 10. No more though- So I get to still have fun and get little valentines ready for my "baby"
Here he signed the back- We had 25 cards to make- He got tired after autographing only two cards! I secretly kept one ( he he! )

He just learned to write his name, and it is so sweet how much energy and effort it took. It was a valentine to myself!

On a different note, Spring goodies will be in My Etsy Shop starting Friday! Love this time of year- Fresh, new starts!

I picked up these Star Shaped Paper Mache boxes awhile back and knew right away what I wanted to do, just finding the time to get things done is always the challenge! I had to of course do one for the Birthday Boy as I have two!

My sweet little friend Cathy is a doll! She recently picked out a Tussie from my Etsy Shop that she liked and I was more than happy to give her. She suprised me this morning with these goodies. So many lovelies! This litle Vintage Book is filled with love quotes and victorian illustrations to inspire ones love letter writing and perhaps some valentine paper piecings to come!

Also, lots of old vintage book pages and this Fabulous Hand stiched trim that has these precious hearts! LOVE THAT! I have been trying to convience her to do more of her wears! She is a Fabulous little creator in her own right.

Kid's went back to school today after being out for nearly 3 weeks, Husbands' back at work, which is great on both sides- I get my house back and he gets out of me asking him to do this or that project!! ha ha, the weather hit a nice 75 today and the Tigers are playing tonight at the Super Dome going for the National Championship------GEAUX TIGERS!!!!

Well, we are off to smalltown(san marcos,tx) We have about an 8hr drive, but it will be so nice to be home again! The car is busting at every inch, Christmas carols are on the radio, sugar cookies and chocolate sweeties to eat, little ones fighting in the back seat. Threatning to "turn this car around" OH the Holidays!!
It will be here and gone in that funny way that it always does. Remember to slow down and enjoy a moment or two~ The warm hugs from loved ones, hot chocolate and a glowing fireplace, those ever redundant carols we all know, the smile of delight on a child's face as they open that gift they have been begging for days to get into!!

OMGosh~ It is almost here- I still have soooooooooo much to do. Are you like me and still have more to do than not? I have been up till 3am each night this week! Mostly with orders that will find their way under someone's shinny tree this season! I have been able to get alittle shopping done, mostly online. There are some FaBuLoUs Sites around here. Etsy, of course has been a great source! I love giving handmade! It brings up those warm feelings of childhood. Those little school-age gifts that were so pure and sweet. Little handmolds with the date and funny little ashtrays for parents who didn't smoke. How excited we were to bring them home, wanting to have them opened right away, only having to wait with
such anticipation for Christmas Day.
In the shop I still have lots of little "lovelies" for all those last minute-rs! Check out the Tussie Mussie Section, Free offer on all TUSSIES! But I will only be able to take orders until the 16th- I will be out of my studio after the 19th- we leave for Texas that night. I will be checking in while we are gone, but I hope like many of you,I will be spending the time AWAY from the computer, and with my beautiful family! The Few... The Proud.....

This morning my family received the news that my 18 yr. young cousin ( My mother's brother's son) is leaving for Iraq Dec. 23rd. This brave, daring boy enlisted just a few months ago- this will be his first tour. My little Mimi is devastated to say the least- This is her youngest grandchild of 7. I use to babysit and change his diapers!
Blake is a noble, strong, dashing, humorous, smart, loveable guy- He is pumped to go. Though, he has hidden this enthusiasm from the women in this family- as to not upset them I suppose, and put them in an inconsolable, crying, fetal position state as they are at this time- I am Super Proud of him- though the worry and fear are overwhelming- This will be my 2nd cousin that has left for duty since this war began. Joe, a Sniper for the U.S. Army, arrived home safe 9 months ago. His Father served in Veitnam and is MIA over the waters of the Bamuda Triangle for over 30 years now.
Please keep my family and this Fine, Young Man Blake in your prayers.

OMGosh~ They are literally EVERYWHERE! My Studio is filled with them! I am soooooooo happy to be creating Christmas Cheer! I have some going into my Etsy Shop- a few are there now, more in the next few days. Many here that are Customs and then some that are gifts- and maybe another GIVEAWAY!!! (hint hint! Check back next week for details!)
And then I have a bunch of Albums I am working on- all at the same time! Several Planners- being as it is getting close to the New Year!!- that reminds me, I need to make myself one of those. oh my!! Let's see, oh yeah and I am in a frenzy because my MOTHER is coming for a visit- EEKK!
My baby brother is getting married this weekend so lots of things going on. Both my babies are in it. They look soooooo cute in their tuxs!!
Klein is 10- he is an usher, and Reid is the Ring Bearer !! I will post some pics- it should be a GORGEOUS WEDDING!! It is in Natchitoches, La- That alone says alot- This town is the setting from the Movie "STEEL MAGNOLIAS". This weekend there is also the Festival of the Lights- So everywhere will be glammed in Christmas Delight!! In fact the Bride and Groom picked this weekend for that very reason- The Festival will be having Fireworks going off right at dark- Just as my brother and his bride are pronounced "husband & wife" Okay ~ yeas if you are like me and been married for a while- (my hubby and I have been together over 15 years)- This is all pretty silly and well, yeah it's gotten Bridezila-ish to be honest- But, they are young and excited and well, lets face it, it will be kinda cool!

Well, I also wanted to say WELCOME HOME BELLAS!! Have enjoyed reading and looking at some great pics from your trip-

Yummies

Well, in between the scary ghost, witches and a few super heroes that came by to visit last night I was busy getting more things ready for the FALL FEST my older son's school puts on each year. My preschooler calls these "Yummies". He had filled up on a few before making the rounds through the neighborhood- umm, probably what kept him up so late- or perhaps the goooy carmel apples didn't help?
These YUMMIES are Oatmeal Raisin. My Mimi was the best cook- I am so lucky to have some recipes from her collection of yummies!
Although I love Halloween I am happy to move forward. Christmas is my FAvOriTe! But I have to remind myself to slow down and enjoy the fall. My studio is FILLED with Christmas goodies- Glitter Stars, Garland, Shimmery Snowmen, Vintage Santas- all going into projects. So it makes it very hard to be in a fall mood when I see that those darn frosty snowmen are dancing out of the corner of my eye!!

I have been working on some LARGE ones for Christmas- hint lots of glitter involved!! Kind of an alternative to a stocking for those like friends, teachers, ect...

I am covered in it!!! My studio is covered in it!!! Everywhere you look there is tinsel and glitter stars, silver garland, sparkling words, glitter on the floor, glitter on the computer, glitter on my face!
And I have to say~ It is Beautiful!!! I love Christmas and all it's shimmer. I have been super busy with some custom pieces and fall goodies for both my son's schools- but in between the glitter is pulling me in! I am such a night owl and that's usually when the tinsel starts to dance in the light and the little glitter jars start to spill over with delight. It's a creative time - when the house is quite and all are asleep ~except the glitter and me!

Been super busy with custom orders and getting some Christmas Products worked on. I can't believe how fast this year has past.
We expect our first cool front tonight. The highs here have been in the upper 90's!

Love this time of year!-- Been up in the attic pulling things down to bring Fall into the house! My entire neighborhood seemed to have the same idea! Each day this weekend another group of houses would get dressed up in all it's pretties, showing off it's Fall attire. Ready for trick-or-treaters and the gobble-gobble of turkeys.

If it's your front door, alittle nook, or every inch that will sit still in your home, Get out those decos and WELCOME in FALL!

I just love coming home! After being out all day, in the pourin' RAIN, dropping kids at school, grocery shopping, post office dropping, To find boxes on my door step waiting to come in!

If you haven't checked out the girls at The Cottage, You MUST!! They have the sweetest items in their new shop. While up late last week I popped in to browse and look at what I found!!!

This Oh So Gorgeous Ironstone Sugar Bowl is gonna look FaBuLoUs with my collection of Ironstone. Love the color and the crackled aged of this piece!

Okay- So I am not so good at this blogging thing!. I have been on a much needed break from the computer and my studio. We have been doing MAJOR renovations on our home for the last 4 months, and they are still yet to be completed.

Took a much anticipated trip to Small Town (that's Texas!) and came back with some great ideas and FabUloUs StuFf!!

But for now I am still busy getting kiddos back to school, teacher meetings and getting back into a routine of carpool and practices. I will post updates sooner than later this time go round!
